Friday the 13th

As many of you may already know, a new Friday the 13th movie opens in theaters today.  While the new one isn't a remake of the original film, it isn't a continuation of the series either.  This version of Friday the 13th is being billed as a "reboot," which starts a new series all over from scratch as if the past movies didn't exist.

In honor of its release, I have scheduled a Friday the 13th Movie Marathon.  This won't be like the other marathons, though, as it will be started and completed (hopefully) in one full day.  Friday the 13th to be exact.  As February is only 28 days long, March also gets the honor of having the 13th fall on a Friday, and what better way is there to use a floating birthday vacation day than to watch a marathon of movies that defined the slasher/horror genre?

I have recently plunked down around $50 and purchased all 11 films in the series, which includes the original nine, Jason X, and Freddy vs. Jason.  Of course, no Friday the 13th Movie Marathon would be complete without a screening of the newest one and is also part of the marathon as long as it is still playing in theaters.  I have also talked Crystal and our friend Jason Kuntz into watching the 20 hours of films with me.

The marathon will start on or around midnight on Friday the 13th and will go on throughout the day until all twelve movies have been watched.  I am also planning on writing a live blog of sorts during the marathon.  In between each one I will not only just write about the movie, but I will write about the experience as well.  This could make for an interesting read as I'm sure my writing and thinking skills will diminish rapidly as I become more and more sleep deprived and hopped up on energy drinks and other forms of stimuli.

Feel free to follow along at home and/or work as we make our way through all of the films in the Friday the 13th series.  If you are up to it, you can also stop over and watch them with us.
