Jason's Review
I didn't think Daredevil was as bad as some people had thought. I was hoping for the same out of the spin-off, Elektra, but it didn't live up to those expectations. In fact, I'm not sure why this movie was even made.

While I am not a huge fan of Elektra, she seem to be a supporting character at best, although she seems to be held in high regard to comic book fans. I'm not sure if that warrants a full length film dedicated to the character, but you would think the concept of a female assassin-for-hire would turn out a compelling script for a film. I tend to think of an action packed thrill ride with plenty of fight scenes. Obviously the creators had something very different in mind.

For starters, the movie is incredibly slow. It starts out decent, but once Elektra agrees to take the job on her target, the film slows down to a crawl. It then turns from being an almost action movie to a romantic drama, which is not a direction I thought it was going to go in considering the subject matter. I will say that they did try to explain some of Electra's backstory in short flashbacks, which I thought was decent, but that didn't help me get over the boredom I was feeling.

When Elektra did try being a comic book action movie, which took too long to get to, it couldn't even do that right. The B-list of villains that were chosen to be in the movie weren't all that compelling or memorable, nor were any of the fight scenes. In fact, the fights scenes were almost laughable since everyone exploded into a cloud of dust when being defeated. I'm not sure who thought that would be a good idea that would translate well onto the screen. Let me tell you - it doesn't, which really sums up this movie as a whole.

My only guess is that Elektra was signed on to be made before Daredevil came out. If this was the best script that was made for the film, it may have been better to just table the whole film and forget that it had even been discussed.
