Plot
Blade forms an uneasy alliance with the vampire council in order to combat the Reaper vampires who feed on vampires.

Jason's Thoughts
It's unfortunate that Guillermo del Toro didn't direct the original Blade movie.  Don't get me wrong, Blade was a great movie, but Blade II is leaps and bounds ahead of its predecessor.

The story this time around has Blade reluctantly joining forces with his foes to take out a new breed of vampires called reapers.  While the story has been done before in other places, Blade II does it with a style that is unmatched.  It is non-stop action from start to finish with top notch effects and acting.

What really makes Blade II stand out, though, is the comic book style camera work that del Toro achieves with the film.  The techniques used really makes it look like you are reading directly from the pages of a comic book.  While it's not on the level as say Sin City, it adds a whole new level to the comic book movie genre and I hope to see these camera tricks used in the upcoming comic book movies and those in the future.

One more aspect that sticks out is the fight scenes.  You usually don't have to wait too long before seeing a battle take place and the fight scenes in Blade II aren't your garden variety fight scenes by any means.  The fights are so well choreographed that is really draws you in to the action and I found myself just sitting there and enjoying what was unfolding on the screen.  The wrestling nerd in me especially enjoyed seeing some wrestling moves performed such as a vertical suplex and an elbow drop.

The effects in Blade II were also great.  Of course, being a vampire movie, there is going to be blood and Blade II spares no expense in that department.  The creature effects for the reapers were nicely done as well, as is the rest of the effects, costumes and makeup.  Blade II really does hit it right on all cylinders.

Blade II is one of those rare sequels where it truly is better than the original.  A greater follow up to a great movie.
