Reaching 500

We reached a milestone for our Netflix viewing - the two of us have watched a total of 500 movies since we signed up.  Of course, we haven't both watched every movie (Jason has watched 479, while Crystal has watched 233), but we have reached that mark after Jason had a movie marathon watching session on Sunday.  The mark was met with Jason watching G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra.

It took us nearly five full years to reach that mark, in fact we came in just 97 days shy of hitting five years.  Some simple math shows that we watch an average of 100 movies a year, however, our movie watching has been lower in the past couple of years after moving into a new house and Crystal going back to school.  Plus, these are just the movies we have watched through Netflix, not in a theater.

On top of that, we have been watching plenty of TV shows over the past few years, including Lost, The Office, Man v. Food and most recently, Hoarders.  All of these were watched through Netflix but weren't tracked in the movie totals.

Just to put into perspective on how much time it takes to watch 500 movies, a glance at our Netflix Stats page shows that we have spent nearly 881 hours of time watching movies.  If you convert that into days, it is seven hours shy of equaling 37 full days.
