More Movie Marathons
Recent Posts
In case you haven't already noticed, I have added a few more movie marathons to the movies section. The next After Dark Horrorfest series, cleverly called After Dark Horrorfest III, has been added to the list, but so have a couple of others, which feature movies based on comic book superheroes.
The third Horrorfest was a logical step in the progression of that series, which currently sits at four. However, after sitting through 19 movies in the previous two Horrorfest series, I thought it was time to switch things up a bit. That's why I have compiled a list of live action comic book movies from the two biggest comic book companies in the U.S., Marvel and DC.
The two comic book companies have been separated into their own lists, which will continue to grow once new movies are released. As it sits right now, Marvel Comics has 22 movies in their list, while DC Comics has 17. Both lists were compiled after some research, however, both are missing a few movies that normally would be included but are hard to find. That list includes the 1989 version of The Punisher that starred Dolph Lundgren and the 1997 box office bomb Steel that starred NBA star Shaquille O’Neal.
The thought of doing a comic book movie marathon has been swirling around in my head for a while now to the point that I have put off watching these movies for far too long. With Crystal going back to school for nursing and our AFI 100 Years 100 Movies marathon once again going into a standstill, I have a lot more free time to on my hands, which can be spent in front of my home theater to make my way through these movies.
As always, I will be reviewing each of these films on our web site. There are quite a few that will be easy and I would be able to review right now just from the amount of times I have seen them in the past (for example, the Michael Keaton Batman movies), but I will enjoy them one more time before I finally write my thoughts down.
While I make my way through the comic book movies, I will also be making my way through the After Dark Horrorfest III movies, and most likely, the After Dark Horrorfest IV movies. The first two Horrorfests both started strong, but ended up taking between six to 11 months to complete. I am hoping that a mixture of the marathons will help break things up a bit for me and help them move along fairly quickly.
Who knows, once I am through with them maybe I will be able to find Steel and The Punisher on DVD.
