A Nightmare-aton on 29th Avenue

Like many other iconic horror films from the 70s and 80s (Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Halloween, Friday the 13th), A Nightmare on Elm Street has gotten the remake treatment and opened in theaters on April 30th. Of course I couldn't let an opportunity like this pass me by, so I am once again holding a movie marathon in honor of the newest release.
Thankfully there is a DVD box set that contains all seven movies in the original series, which includes Wes Craven's New Nightmare. I was able to find it online at a reasonable price ($27) and finally received them in the mail yesterday. The marathon wouldn't be complete, though, without another viewing of Freddy vs. Jason, which was also viewed for the Friday the 13th movie marathon.
Since A Nightmare on Elm Street doesn't take place on a particular day like Friday the 13th or Halloween does, my original plan was to start on Friday evening and hold it overnight, thus having those watching the films try not to fall asleep, just as most of the actors are trying to do during the movies. However, the local multiplex decided to cut out the afternoon matinees for the remake and forced me to change my plans.
The marathon will now start Saturday morning at 7:30 AM sharp. This should give us enough time to work our way through the series before heading out to West Acres 14 for the 10:00 PM showing of the newest one. As in the past, Jason Kuntz will be joining me once again and possibly Sammi Graening and Jessica Jorgenson, who made it through the Halloween marathon. A few others may stop by and join in as well.
As in the past, both Jason and I will be providing live updates about the marathon throughout the day on this web site. I am hopeful that our writing won't deteriorate as much as it has in the past since we should all be well rested instead of sleep deprived.
Feel free to follow along at home and/or work as we make our way through all of the films in the Nightmare series. If you are up to it, you can also stop over to our place and watch them with us.
