Based on the cult DC Comics hero, this action Western co-stars Michael Shannon as strange circus impresario Doc Cross Williams and Megan Fox as beautiful gunslinger Lilah.

17 - Watchmen
Zack Snyder directs this adaptation of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons's graphic novel set in a parallel Earth in 1985, where superheroes are prohibited from using their powers despite the threat of nuclear war. When one of their number is murdered, however, the outlaw heroes -- including Dr. Manhattan (Billy Crudup), Silk Spectre (Carla Gugino), Rorschach (Jackie Earle Haley) and Nite Owl (Patrick Wilson) -- unite to defend themselves.

16 - The Dark Knight
In this blockbuster sequel to Batman Begins, the caped crusader (Christian Bale) teams with Lt. After spending years away from Metropolis, Superman (Brandon Routh) returns to find a city that's managed to survive without him. And much to his chagrin, Lois Lane (Kate Bosworth) has moved on to another man (James Marsden), while archenemy Lex Luthor (Kevin Spacey) is developing a new plan to rule the world. Instead of rebooting the franchise, director Bryan Singer continues the story told by Richard Donner in Superman and Superman II.

Liquidated after discovering a corporate conspiracy, mild-mannered graphic artist Patience Phillips (Halle Berry) washes up on an island, where she's resurrected and endowed with the prowess of a cat -- and she's eager to use her new skills ... as a vigilante. Before you can say "cat and mouse," handsome gumshoe Tom Lone (Benjamin Bratt) is on her tail. Sharon Stone has a field day as a frosty beauty queen being shelved for a newer model.

Along with crime-fighting partner Robin (Chris O'Donnell) and new recruit Batgirl (Alicia Silverstone), Batman (George Clooney) battles the dual threat of frosty genius Mr. Freeze (Arnold Schwarzenegger) and homicidal horticulturalist Poison Ivy (Uma Thurman). Freeze plans to put Gotham City on ice, while Ivy tries to drive a wedge between the dynamic duo. With winking jokes and powerhouse action, Batman & Robin makes a great franchise addition.

The top-grossing film of 1995, director Joel Schumacher's interpretation of Batman has new villains and a new sidekick as millionaire Bruce Wayne (Val Kilmer) goes up against psychotic Two-Face (Tommy Lee Jones) and the Riddler (Jim Carrey), who have nefarious plans for Gotham City. Joined by Robin (Chris O'Donnell), who wants revenge on Two-Face, Batman pursues the baddies while being seduced by Dr. Chase Meridian (Nicole Kidman).

10 - Batman Returns
Trouble returns to Gotham in director Tim Burton's sequel as Batman (Michael Keaton) battles three new villains plotting to take over the city, including corrupt businessman Max Shreck (Christopher Walken), the hideous Penguin (Danny DeVito) and the mysterious Catwoman (Michelle Pfeiffer). This comic book brought to life drew two Oscar nods for its visuals, but its dark themes and violence led Warner Bros. in a lighter direction for Batman Forever.

In Tim Burton's hands, this comic book character taps into his brooding side, and Gotham's underbelly writhes in its vices. Bruce Wayne (Michael Keaton) starts to make a name for himself as a masked enemy to the criminal set just when the flamboyant Joker (Jack Nicholson) takes over as tops in the mafia. Adding the art-house hues to a big-budget formula meant major success at the box office, an Oscar for Art Direction and a line of sequels.

8 - The Return of Swamp Thing
The monster at the bottom of the mucky waters is back in this sequel to the campy horror classic. This time, the Swamp Thing is a hero of sorts, rescuing an attractive horticulturist (Heather Locklear) from her dastardly stepfather (Louis Jourdan), whom she suspects is behind her mother's early and mysterious death.

To fit into her new surroundings, Kara disguises herself as high school student Linda Lee and says that she's Clark Kent's cousin.
