Plot
A group of six friends on a road trip make a stop off at an amusement park attraction named 'Dark Ride', unaware that a psychopath who brutally murdered two girls has just escaped a mental institution and is seeking refuge there.

Jason's Thoughts
I tend to stay away from horror films that have anything to do with "six friends" that are going somewhere together.  You know the clichéd horror movies that I am talking about - six friends go camping, six friends go road tripping, six friends go to the grocery store.  When something like that comes along, you know there are going to be at least six deaths.

Dark Ride fit the mold of the "six friends" clichéd horror film that I usually stay away from.  This time around, though, I was proven wrong as it was actually a decent movie.  Dark Ride seemed like a throwback to the old slasher movies of the 80's that I grew up with and have grown to love.

Needless to say, it featured a good amount of violence and gore to meet those standards, including one of the best decapitation scenes I have even seen.  In addition to the gore, there were a few spots the actually made a jump a bit and a slight twist at the end that I didn't see coming, yet made sense as it tied everything together nicely.  It wasn't just a twist ending just to be a twist ending.

As an added bonus, Dark Ride also featured a few known actors, such as Patrick Renna, who made a name for himself in movies such as The Sandlot and The Big Green and Jamie-Lynn Sigler from the Sopranos.

When I first heard about the After Dark Horrorfest, these are the type if movies that I figured I would see.  I wasn't expecting to see the best horror movies of all time, but I was expecting horror movies with copious amounts of blood and gore that will both startle and entertain you at the same time.  Here, I am nearing the end of the marathon and Dark Ride is the only one that has lived up to all of that so far.

This movie is recommended if you enjoy old school slasher films of the 80's.
