Plot
A young woman looks to escape her abusive life by moving to a friend's farm near Atlanta. Unfortunately, she learns her place of supposed comfort offers more terrifying forms of abuse in this horror movie inspired by actual events.

Jason's Thoughts
I'm usually leery of movies that use the “inspired by actual events” tag as they seem to be used very liberally for a little added effect.  I'm not sure what events were used for the inspiration of Slaughter, but it did seem like this story could have happened in some shape or form.  Basically, Slaughter tells a story of a young woman running away from an abusive relationship and befriending another young lady who has some skeletons of her own in the closet.

The movie starts at a slow pace, and at times can appear like a standard television drama, but the pace wasn't too slow as to make my mind start to wander such as what happened with The Brøken.  At least the pace picked up about an hour into it and goes into full on chaos mode to end it out.  I also have to give credit for the ending for taking it in another direction.  In my mind, not every movie needs to end on a good note, and Slaughter does just that.

The acting in Slaughter is your standard B-movie quality, but I was surprised that the camera and sound effects were above that.  There was some nice visual effects in certain areas, and although the gore was a little light, especially for a movie entitled “Slaughter,” it was well done and made me cringe a few times, with a teeth pulling scene coming immediately to mind.

Overall, Slaughter wasn't a great horror movie, but it was enough to hold my interest and keep me entertained.  I always like to find a good horror movie gem here and there, unfortunately this wasn't it and I hope to still find one during this installment of the Horrorfest, but at least Slaughter was a huge improvement over the first film I watched.
